What is Nmap?

Nmap is a network exploration and security auditing tool. It can be used to identify hosts and services on a network, as well as security issues. Nmap can be used to scan for vulnerable open ports on systems.

To use Nmap, you will need to install it. Nmap is available for free from the Nmap website. Once you have downloaded and installed Nmap, you can launch it by running the “nmap” command.

Nmap has a wide range of options that can be used to customize scans. For a full list of options, you can run the “nmap –help” command. Some common options include:

-sS: This option tells Nmap to perform a SYN scan. This is the default scan type.
-sT: This option tells Nmap to perform a connect scan.
-sU: This option tells Nmap to perform a UDP scan.
